Technology has improved our lives in many ways. It has given us access to better communication tools, increased our overall health, extended our lives and much, much more. Many believe that technology has also been responsible for many people losing their jobs. Across the globe, some business owners are turning to computers, technology and advanced robotics to perform many jobs, which were once completed by humans.
This subtle shift in job ownership has not gone unnoticed by people. While at one time it seemed that, the jobs that were lost were only dangerous or monotonous jobs, many people feel that today jobs are being lost to computers or robots that are completely suitable and safe for humans to perform.
As our economy continues to worsen, more American’s are actively seeking jobs. Many would be happy to perform work that is now the prevue of computers. The problem is compounded by the fact that computers are actually more cost effective, more reliable and do not require benefits. Business owners are reaping the benefits of increased technology in their bottom line.
Robots, which were once little more than the fanciful imaginings of science fiction authors are now becoming a reality and the reality isn’t quite as if we thought it would be. Instead of robotic house servants who do our laundry, we are faced with the very real possibility that robots will take even more jobs from Americans.
Technology has, in the case, proved to be a two-edged sword. While some of the advancements are positive, many are still smarting from the number of jobs lost to technology.
