With the real explosion of the internet one of the fastest growing careers around is freelance writing. Most people don’t understand that with the literally millions of different sites that are out there now, somebody has to write the copy for those pages. There are plenty of people who understand they have a good idea for a website but know that while their ideas might be great, they have a problem executing the wording of what they want done effectively. These people are then going to turn around and hire someone to do the work for them and that is where freelance writing comes into play.

The mistake that most breaking into the freelance writing profession make is that they assume they can make a ton of money without a ton of work. Newbies in the freelance writing profession are almost guaranteed to be making pennies on the dollar and for this reason there are people who don’t stay in that profession very long.
On a positive note, because there is so much turnaround in the writing profession, there is seemingly always an opening with one site or another and some of the firms that serve only as go-betweens will always have work that can be done. Like any job, the longer you work at it, the bigger your portfolio will get and the better pay you will be able to earn. While a level of success where you can actually live off of freelance writing will not occur all at once, it really can eventually be your entire job. There are quite a few people who only freelance write and make a comfortable living.
